Dad’s Wellbeing (Dad’s Project)

What is the Dads project?
Dads play an important role in their children’s lives, and we recognise that Dad’s have often struggled to engage with services that exist to support them. We work directly with Dad’s to support them in their role as a Father.
We aim to support Dad’s to have strong relationships with their children, to feel more confident in their role as a Father, and to increase awareness of the range of services that are available to Dads.
Who is the Dads project for?
The Dad’s project is open to anyone who is undertaking the role of a Father, including male carers, who have at least one child under the age of 5. We support Dads of any age, and Dads don’t need to be living with their children to access support.
What support can I get?
- One-to-one support – this can be provided either in person, or over the phone. This is an opportunity to access information, advice or guidance that may be helpful to you, or to talk about your experiences as a Dad.
- Groups – these are spaces where Dads can bring their children and meet other Dads. They are an opportunity to learn from each other, build confidence, have fun and spend time with their children.
How can I access support?
There are two ways that you can access support from the Dad’s project.
- You can speak to a health professional involved your care and ask them to refer you for support. A copy of the referral form for professionals is available at the bottom of this page.
- You can self-refer by emailing dads@homestarthorizons.org.uk
- When self-referring please include:
- Name
- Phone Number
- Postcode
- Best time to call
- Please give some details about the support you require
